Joining FIRST Robotics means being part of a lively community where creativity and innovation flourish. You will gain essential technical skills and make lasting friendships. Each season brings fresh challenges and chances to grow, both personally and professionally. Whether you love building, designing, programming, or marketing, there is a place for you to shine. Together, we motivate each other to reach new heights and make a positive impact in our community and beyond!
Our robotics program at Gaylord Community Schools features two competitive teams: the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) for high school students (grades 9-12) and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for middle school students (grades 7-8).
What do we do?
Build
Expertly craft and assemble essential components of cutting-edge robots. Skillfully operate and maintain all machinery within the team’s arsenal.
Design
Our design team loves to be creative and innovative, turning ideas into real designs. We take on challenges, whether it’s making striking visuals for our sponsors or creating unique designs that show our team’s spirit.
Programming
When it comes to programming, our main gig is writing and maintaining the code that keeps our robots from going rogue and trying to take over the world—at least until the competition is over!
Media
Tasked with crafting and sharing engaging content with the public, our media team captures the essence of competitions through photos and videos, ensuring every moment is immortalized.
Marketing
Promote your team to potential student members, to judges, to potential alliance partners. You are selling FIRST to your sponsors in convincing them to invest in you and your future. You are selling both FIRST and your team everyday.
Fundraising
Fundraising is crucial for every FIRST Tech Challenge Team! Teams need funds for supplies, competition fees, travel, and robot building.
Electrical
Learn how to wire motors and circuit boards, solder, strip wires, crimp etc.
Community Outreach
Spread the awareness of FIRST to people in the community. Get others interested and excited for STEM by developing and organizing events in the community.
Business
Learn how to manage the team’s logistics and expenses. Help the team work towards the impact award.
